Cafes I Tried in Singapore

Wimbly Lu

Add: 15-2 Jalan Riang Singapore 358987

Hubby suddenly said wanted to bring me to a nice place. This place is really quite inaccessible without a car, and that's why I would call it a hidden gem. If you ask me to go there again alone, I definitely can't find the way lol. It's situated in the middle of some terrace houses at Serangoon area.

When we reached there at around 4pm in the afternoon, it's full and we have to wait for a while to go in. It was a cosy little cafe and the decor was quite special with the glass ceiling. You can raise your head and look directly at the sky! Love the feel.

We tried Waffle with Honey Cinnamon Ice Cream and Molten Lava Cake.

Oh my god! Both are heavenly!! The waffle was one of the best I have ever eaten! It smells so nice and it's crispy to bite on the outside and soft inside. Melted chocolate oozed from the molten chocolate cake! I'm now drooling thinking of how delicious these 2 desserts were. You really have to try them to know what I meant. No wonder Wimbly Lu has long queues at 4pm in the afternoon! It's really a hidden gem.

Verdict: 9 / 10 for the ambience, the waffles and the molten chocolate cake!

Rokeby

Rokeby is located along the same stretch of shophouses as Wimbly Lu.

I love Foie Gras and I had to try the Foie Gras eggs benedict! It's so special to eat Foie Gras with eggs benedict. The foie gras was quite big piece! I was shocked! I thought it will be just some mash foie gras in the eggs benedict since it only cost $21.90!!

Their pumpkin risotto was yummy too! It was full of fragrance cheese taste and the sweetness of pumpkin.

The best thing? They do not charge additional service charge and GST on top of the price listed in the menu! We love eating places without ++!!

Verdict: 9/10

Arbite

Address: 66A Serangoon Garden Way Singapore 555962 (level 2)

We decided to find a cafe for a nice brunch today. We drove to Serangoon Gardens and saw Arbite. We ordered the Arbite breakfast and the smoked salmon Florentine. The Arbite breakfast is a normal American breakfast and tasted ok. It's just ok because it's not exceptionally tasty but it's not too bad either.

Both the food and ambience didn't leave a very deep impression on us.

Verdict: 6.5/10

Whisk & Paddle

Address: 10 Tebing Lane Singapore 828836

We went on a friday night. It's located in Punggol near the Punggol waterway. The cafe is in an alfresco setting.

We saw some interesting items in the menu and ordered this duck and lychee pizza which has smoked duck breast, lychee and mango salsa. It tasted quite special, in a pleasant way. Salty coupled with a tinge of mango and lychee sweetness. The crust of the pizza was good!

Duck and lychee thin crust pizza
Another thing we ordered is something which we dunno how to pronounce. Pulled Pork Quesadillas. It was tasty and the fries were good!

Verdict: 8 / 10 as the price was reasonable and the food was quite special.

Roadhouse @ Dempsey

Address: 13 Dempsey Road Singapore 249674

Had lunch with my cousin and her boyfriend at Roadhouse @ Dempsey.

We ordered the Signature Breakfast and "High on Shrooms" burger.

The wagyu beef patty of the "High on Shrooms" burger was one of the best patty we ever had. The burger was really quite delicious. But the price is really quite steep. At $26 for the burger with fries and coleslaw. The Signature Breakfast was quite nice too. The sausage tasted great!

Our dessert was Sticky Date Pudding for that day.

I think Roadhouse Sticky Date Pudding was nicer than Prive at Keppel Bay. It's less sweet. The sticky date pudding was served warm, and with the cold ice cream beside it, I love the contrast!

Verdict: 7.5 / 10 because of the steep price.

Oh, one point to mention. Roadhouse have a "Terminator Challenge"! It's a burger with 6 pieces of patty, 6 slices of cheese, streaky bacon, Jalapenos, chillis, home-made sesame buns, coleslaw and fries. If you are able to finish this within 20 minutes. It's free for you and you will be able to make it to Roadhouse's Wall of Fame! GO TRY IT OUT IF YOU CAN DO IT!

Lola's Cafe

Address: 5 Simon Road, 545893

It was conveniently located just next to Kovan MRT station. It was full house when we were there for Saturday brunch. We waited for 20 mins before we got a table. There was nothing special or worth mentioning with regards to the ambience and surrounding.

We ordered the Honey Paprika Crispy Wings, Avocado Eggs Benedict and Mushroom and Cheese Sandwich.

The Honey Paprika Crispy Wings is a must try! The wings did leave a deep impression for us. Definitely coming back for more. As for the avocado eggs benedict and mushroom and cheese sandwich, they were tasty as well but not fantastic and nothing too special.

The good thing about Lola's Cafe is that the price listed on the menu is nett price. No GST and service charge! But one thing to note is that they do not accept credit cards, payment only by NETS or cash.

Verdict: 8/10

The Salon I Keep Returning to: Studio M KSL Hair Salon @ KSL City Mall

It's been a while since I crossed the straits to pamper myself at JB. Whenever I'm in JB and want to change my hairstyle or give my hair some well deserved treatment, Studio M is always the first salon that comes to my mind. I have visited Studio M @ KSL City Mall (previously known as Govin Hair) many times as I love the great service and friendly staff there. Price wise, it's definitely super value as you are getting top notch service and best quality products such as Mucota or Oway on your precious hair. As a person who always want good deals, I have researched before and hey, there's no way I can find that kind of price for treatments, perm, rebond or hair color using top quality products such as Mucota or Oway in Singapore! Look at my lifeless hair with the uneven hair color. It's time to go Studio M hair salon to pamper my hair and give it a new look! Studio M is located at ground floor of KSL City Mall, beside Sasa. My hair stylist was Ben.

Mucota Omega Rebonding at Focus Hairdressing

I initially wanted to try out volume rebonding at some Korean hair salon in Singapore but the price was really expensive, around $350 for my hair length and I was told that the effect was just like soft rebonding, except that it gives the hair more volume. For my hair length, the hairstylist usually will recommend me to perm the ends to have the romantic Korean feel. But I know I will be lazy to maintain the curls. So I dropped the idea.  I saw many good reviews online for mucota rebonding at Focus Hairdressing. It's located at Cuppage Plaza Level 1 which is just  5 mins walk from Somerset MRT. I have previously tried mucota hair treatment at Creme Hairdressing  (Chinatown Point outlet) and I really love the treatment effect. You can read about my mucota treatment experience at Creme Hairdressing . So i decided to try out Mucota rebonding. I originally planned to take the mucota dyna hair rebonding since it is the cheapest kind of mucota rebonding that Focus offers, it's

My Favourite Salon: Studio M Hair Salon @ KSL City Mall

Do you have the same problem as me? Want to dye, perm, rebond or do treatment for your hair but after looking at the price of the established hair salon in Singapore you just wanna shake head and walk away from the salon. Lucky for me, I found a good, cheaper hair salon with excellent service and experience just across the Straits! At KSL City Mall at JB! Govin has changed it's name to Studio M, located at the same location. Ground floor of KSL City Mall. I had gone thrice and I was very happy with my every experience there! My first and third time there was for hair and scalp treatment and they were really good! The scalp massage was so comfortable, I literally could fell asleep while they worked on my hair! The most special experience was during the wait at the hair wash area. They provided aroma therapy there by dripping some lavender essential oil into the hot water and I nearly slept. My second time there was to colour and cut my hair. Oh my! Their hair colour has
